explanation: Located at the center of Fukushima basin, in the northern Fukushima prefecture, its capital is settled there. Fukushima had developed as a castle and post town of Oshu road during the middle ages. The main industries are fodd processing, machinery and textile. The surrounding area is cultivated fruits such as apples, pears and peaches. It owns many hot springs such as Iizaka and Tsuchiyu, and is a tourist base to Mounts Azuma and Adatara, too. The population is 284,000.
